The Sunday edition of the FAZ of August 20, 2023, reported about the HUMAINE competence center, as a BMBF funding initiative to support SMEs in NRW in the use of AI. The article illustrates that AI poses challenges for mid-sized companies. Successful use of AI in work processes requires sufficient resources and adequate expertise. Those are not always given. HUMAINE is developing an approach to address these challenges. Through close cooperation between research and practice partners, the competence center opens up new growth areas for SMEs in the NRW region. Alongside HUMAINE, the KI.NRW platform is also presented, which provides information and demonstration services to help companies get started with AI.

Competence center of the Metropole Ruhr for the human-centered development of AI solutions for the working world of the future
The HUMAINE Competence Center is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research in the program “Future of Value Creation – Research on Production, Services and Work” and supervised by the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA) (funding code: 02L19C200). The funding comprises approximately 8 million euros for an initial period of four years (04/2021-03/2025).
