Under the title “Opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in the field of rehabilitation”, Alexander Bendel and Dr. Anja Gerlmaier from the IAQ at the University of Duisburg-Essen presented the latest results of their work as part of the HUMAINE employee dialog. The importance of human-centered workplace design was illustrated by examining the use of AI assistance systems in workshops for people with disabilities. The “FriendlyTechCheck” assessment tool is used to support the development of human-centered digital workplace design skills among employees, managers and technical managers as well as interest groups in all sectors. The tool is suitable for dynamic assessment over time and should be used before the AI system is implemented. The HUMAINE Competence Center is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research in the program “Future of Value Creation – Research on Production, Services and Work” and supervised by the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA) (funding code: 02L19C200). The funding comprises approximately 8 million euros for an initial period of four years (04/2021-03/2025).
