What problem do many companies face?
Many companies recognise the added value of integrating AI solutions into their business models. Interviews have shown that smaller companies, in particular, struggle to integrate the wide range of possibilities into existing business models or to develop suitable new AI-based business models. Furthermore, there are various uncertainties, such as a lack of acceptance of the solutions or reputational risks in the event of failure. There is a need for targeted inspiration to generate ideas and for a structured approach to business model development that takes AI ethical principles into account in a practical way.
How does the tool help to solve the problem?
The process model helps to ensure that the ethical implications of AI integration are taken into account from various perspectives throughout the entire development process. Furthermore, the inclusion of a wide range of AI solutions during the idea-generation phase is supported by practical examples on the Business Model Cards.
How is the tool used within the company?
The workshop concept and accompanying sets of methodology cards enable interdisciplinary teams to innovate existing business models by incorporating AI components, or to develop new AI-based business models. The methods and tools used are derived from Smart Service Design, Design Thinking and Value-based Engineering.
What is the (time) cost to the company associated with this objection?
The tool can support existing processes and workshop formats in the field of business model development; its use therefore does not necessarily entail any additional effort. Business model development involves workshops lasting several days, with five to ten interdisciplinary participants comprising senior management, customer representatives and subject matter experts, sometimes spanning several cycles.
What added value does the tool bring to the company?
This helps to ensure that a wider range of ideas for AI solutions are taken into account during business model development and that implementation is driven forward in accordance with ethical standards. This helps to build trust among customers and partners and to reduce risk in business model development.
