The maturity model enables an initial assessment of objectives, areas requiring action and possible measures for specific AI implementation projects and existing AI implementations in work systems, based on an evaluation of the current level of human-centredness achieved. As a structured guide, the maturity model thus provides an ideal starting point for the human-centred design of AI-based work systems.

What problem do many companies face?
The human-centred integration of AI into work systems is context-specific and, due to hidden requirements, therefore presents those involved with a task that is virtually impossible to solve.
How does the tool help to solve the problem?
The tool addresses this challenge by offering the various stakeholders a structured way of assessing the current state and defining a target state for AI integration capabilities and processes, as well as guidance on areas for action and requirements.
How is the tool used within the company?
In line with the current state of iterative development, developers are being guided in the use of the tool. Depending on the organisation using it and the nature of the selected subject matter, this requires the involvement of various key personnel. In future, the tool is to be converted into a digital format (self-service tool).
What is the time commitment involved for the company in raising this objection?
The guided use of the tool consists of an initial questionnaire on the company, its projects and design interests; a dialogue-based assessment of the current status of selected focus areas or criteria; a discussion of target states; and the formulation of recommendations for action, with references to further resources. At the current stage of development, the time required to use the tool is estimated at between two and four hours, depending on the size of the company and the nature of the project.
