Multiplier case: Potential analysis at Control€xpert

Interim validation of the workshop format with regard to its transferability beyond the defined pilot projects

Summary

The potential analysis is designed to help companies identify opportunities for using AI within their own organisations and to develop a shared understanding amongst all relevant stakeholders regarding implementation ideas or plans. In order to gain insights into broad applicability as early as possible, in line with an iterative development approach, an interim validation exercise was carried out following the initial implementation using ControlExpert as a case study, going beyond the scope of the project plan.

Description of the Approach

Based on the findings from the first regular run of the potential analysis, the workshop was adapted to meet specific needs in terms of the selection and application of methods, as well as its format. Among other things, sections on the role of people and technology, and on value-oriented system design, were incorporated. Following preparation and a preliminary discussion, the workshop was held over three half-day sessions with participants from claims handling, software development, product management and R&D.

Goals & Results

By applying the potential analysis for the first time to a case outside the defined pilot projects, valuable insights were gained regarding the selection and application of methods, the delivery format and the facilitation of the workshop. These insights were subsequently put to good use in shaping the potential analyses carried out as part of the research project and also provide guidance for further generalisation with a view to potential use by the established centre of excellence.
