Multiplier case: Testing the tachAId tool
Guidance tool for the technical implementation of human-centred AI in an industrial context
Application at IMS Messsysteme GmbH and the H2Giga – FertiRob project
Summary
tachAId is an interactive, process-oriented guide for the development of human-centred AI solutions, with a particular focus on AutoML and explainable AI. The tool was validated in two different industry-related AI projects to assess its usefulness in human-centred AI design.

Description of the Approach
Validation was carried out across two contrasting use cases: a research project on electrolyser coatings with little prior experience of AI, and an established industrial platform for AI-based defect detection on steel strips. Interviews with a decision-maker, an AI developer and an academic researcher covered a broad spectrum of perspectives and levels of experience. The combination of a think-aloud user study and semi-structured interviews ensured both the breadth and quality of the feedback gathered from the wider group.
Goals & Results
The evaluation confirmed that tachAId is a valuable tool for human-centred AI design. The tool’s interactivity and its ability to draw attention to key design aspects were particularly well received. Based on the feedback, improvements have been made in terms of clarity and navigation. The realistic application by the multipliers has ensured that tachAId is suitable as a point of contact within HUMAINE for those interested in the technical implementation of human-centred design.
