Staying competitive through transformation

The 5-Site Programme is an initiative of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Business Metropole Ruhr. The programme supports projects as investments in forward-looking structural change in the Ruhr region. As part of the programme, the event ‘Staying Competitive through Transformation’ will take place at ZESS on 8 July 2026.

The programme includes, amongst other things:

  • a keynote speech by Prof. Dr Uta Wilkens from the Chair of Labour, Human Resources & Leadership at Ruhr University Bochum
  • a keynote speech by Mona Neubaur, Minister for Economic Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia
  • Panel discussions on the topics of ‘sustainable land use’ and ‘green industrial region’
  • a tour of the Mark 51°7 site
